ForumX-Konfiguration reparieren?

Hallo allerseits,

ich habe leichtsinnigerweise meine X-Konfiguration mit Xconfigurator ändern wollen, was bisher immer problemlos geklappt hat – nur diesmal nicht. Dafür startet X jetzt gar nicht mehr.

Habe schon probiert, die von Morphix (liegt dem aktuellen Linux User bei) erzeugten Config-Dateien XF86config und XF86config-4 zu übernehmen, aber auch damit will X nicht starten.

Ich könnte natürlich das ganze System aktualisieren, es ist eh hoffnungslos veraltet, aber im Moment ist mir das zu viel Aufwand, zumal ich keinen Brenner für’s Backup habe und jede Menge distributionsfremde Programme drauf sind.

Hat jemand eine Idee, wie ich das System erstmal wieder flott kriege? Müssen vielleicht noch andere Dateien als die oben genannten übernommen werden? (VGA-Auflösung würde für den Anfang ja schon reichen.)

Hallo,

Für eine Diagnose wären auch die Fehlermeldungen interessant, die beim manuellen Startversuch des X-Window-Systems ausgegeben werden (startx in der Konsole). Fehlermeldungen fangen mit (EE) an und deuten normalerweise in die Richtung der Fehlerquelle.

Kann leider z.Z. nur sporadisch ins Netz, daher hat es etwas länger gedauert.

Der X-Server gibt die Fehlermeldung

Fatal Server Error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting.

aus. Sagt das irgendwem was, oder kann man die Nummer irgendwo nachschlagen?
Die XF86-Config bringe ich naechstes mal mit, wuerde mich freuen, dann nochmal was zu hören.
