Ein ungarischer Linux-Fan mit dem Pseudonym eCaffee hat im Suse-Studio eine OpenSuse-Live-CD mit KDE 3.5 gebaut, um der Nachfrage nach dem “traditionellen KDE” gerecht zu werden.
Obwohl sich Little Susie feat. KDE3 selbst als Distribution bezeichnet, handelt es sich bei dem noch recht jungen Projekt lediglich um eine im SuseStudio gebaute Live-CD. Sie basiert auf OpenSuse 11.1 (Kernel 2.6.27) und bringt als Desktop die KDE-Version 3.5.10 mit. Neben den offiziellen Paketen enthält Little Susie auch ein paar kommerzielle Programme, darunter Skype und den Flashplayer. Zudem sind der MPlayer, aMSN und einige weitere nützliche Programme vorinstalliert.
Die Distribution befindet sich zurzeit noch im Beta-Stadium, die recht bunt gehaltene grafische Oberfläche startet zudem in der Grundeinstellung auf ungarisch. Die Entwickler arbeiten zurzeit noch an ein paar Fehlerbereinigungen, zudem möchte man noch sämtliche Novell/OpenSuse-Logos aus der Live-CD entfernen.
Die fertige Lizenz von Little Susie steht noch nicht fest.

Sorry for the english…I have some german roots but cannot used my german language knowledge cca. 33 years since the Schwabish Kindergarten 1975-77… I am very happy to see this interest from Germany! To test the LiveCD installer function, use linux as password by clicking the live installer icon at the desktop , named “Telepites” which means installing in hungarian language. (be careful because its in beta stage so use VirtualBox instead of your real machine) The install procedure 100% identical to the openSUSE 11.1 system, so get some german SUSE tutorial screen, and fill… Mehr »
Köszönöm szepen, eCaffee, for building a suse-distro with kde3, which I definitely prefer. I want to work, not play around with it. I am German with Hungarian roots and though my Hungarian is only good for everyday life I get by with the system- nice that this comes just from Hungary. Besides that it’s easy to change the language. I hope, Little Susie will grow up soon…

High eCaffee, thanks for providing this OpenSUSE remake. I think a lot of people still like to use the KDE 3.5 series, me too. Especially on older hardware this is probably a good choice. But what about the licenses ?! Why are the licenses “under construction” ? Probably you should think about using open source licenses like the GNU General Public License (GPL) or the BSD license. I think even if not all the programs used on the LiveCD are under a open source license (f.e. Flash, Skype, etc.) you should consider following the GNU/Linux spirit and put everything you… Mehr »
