Nabend liebe Gemeinde,
wie in der Topic beschrieben spinnt mein Opensuse rum. Erst nach dem ich die Treiber installiert habe ruckeln Fenster und beim Scrollen im Browser der Text.
Da ich nen absoluter Linux Anfänger bin weiss ich auch keinen Rat. Hoffentlich könnt ihr mir mit dem Problem helfen.

Gib in einer Konsole mal

LIBGL_DEBUG=1 glxinfo

ein und stelle die Ausgabe hier ein.
Interessant dabei sind eigentlich nur die ersten ca. 50 Zeilen.

irgendwas scheint wohl „defekt“ zu sein oder?

Der Treiber funktioniert nicht. Als erstes solltest du nachsehen, ob das Kernelmodul fglrx geladen wird. Öffne eine root-Konsole und lasse dir mit lsmod alle geladenen Kernelmodule anzeigen. Da müsste ein Modul namens „fglrx“ auftauchen.

Wenn nicht, kannst du es mit

modprobe fglrx

laden. Sollte das Laden fehlschlagen, wird eine Fehlermeldung ausgegeben. Mittels dmesg erfährst du außerdem, was der Kernel dazu sagt.

Rico geht davon aus, das Du den Closed Sorce ATI Treiber verwendest (der mit fglrx). Diesen benötigst Du aber bei openSUSE 11.3 normalerweise nicht mehr, da der dort verwendete RadeonHD alle wichtigen Sachen unterstützt. Gebe mal auf einer root console „zypper in xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd“ ein. Normalerweise sollte eine Meldung „Nothing to do.“ kommen. Jetzt musst Du noch in den KDE „Systemeinstellungen“ im Menü „Erscheinungbild …“ – „Arbeitsoberflächen-Effekte“, diese aktivieren und auf dem Tab „Erweitert“ den „Composit-Typ auf „OpenGL“ stellen (unter umständen musst Du die Reihenfolge der beiden letztgenannten Punkte umdrehen. Anschließend sollten alle 3D-Effekte und HW-Beschleunigte HD Videos funktionieren.

Sind die Effekte schon eingeschaltet, schalte sie wieder aus. Auch kann ein Update oder die Umstellung auf die aktuellsten Repositorys weiter helfen:

Vielleicht sollten wir dann erst mal herausfinden, welchen Treiber du eigentlich benutzt.

Stelle bitte mal die Inhalte von /etc/X11/xorg.conf und /var/log/Xorg.0.log hier ein.

(Es könnte durchaus sein, dass /etc/X11/xorg.conf gar nicht existiert)

Du nutzt den fglrx-Treiber und dir fehlt das Kernelmodul.

Das kann jetzt mehrere Ursachen haben, je nachdem wie du den Treiber installiert hast. Es wäre zum Beispiel möglich, dass der Treiber in einem separaten Paket liegt oder unter einem anderen Kernel installiert wurde. Bin leider kein Opensuse-Nutzer und kann deshalb an dieser Stelle nicht so richtig Auskunft geben.

fglrx ist immer so ein Problemkandidat, deshalb wäre es das Sinnvollste, wie Ulf schon schrieb, bei einer neueren Distri auf die freien Treiber radeon oder radeonhd auszuweichen.
Bei mir unter Debian funktioniert radeon perfekt, radeonhd macht auch Zicken.

Schritte:
1. fglrx RESTLOS! entfernen
2. Radeon und/oder RadeonHD-Treiberpakete im Paketmanager suchen und installieren
3. In /etc/X11/xorg.conf die Zeile

Driver „fglrx“

durch
Driver „radeon“ oder Driver „radeonhd“

ersetzen.

Einfach mal beide probieren und mit glxinfo nachsehen, ob es funktioniert.

Wenn das ATI Script keine Deinstallation bietet, am besten via zypper deinstallieren
# zypper se fglrx
den dort gelisteten Namen dann mit
# zypper rm [name-des-fglrx-pakets]
deinstallieren.

Oder aber mit „rpm -qa | grep fglrx“ den Namen herausfinden und mit „rpm -e [name-des-fglrx-pakets]“ deinstallieren.

Wenn Du gar nicht auf die Closed Source Treiber verzeichten möchtest, die Treiber am besten via openSUSE Repository einrichten (siehe Link hier):

Und dort dann via ein „UDBA“ (= Universal Driver Build Assistant) einrichten lassen.

danke erstmal für die ganze info, ich hab nach dem paket gesucht, aber zypper und rpm finden kein paket bzw treiber mit dem namen. aber in der xorg.conf steht noch fglrx

Habe Dir doch den Link oben angegeben. Die deinstallation wird nur über das Tool gehen, welches Ihn eingerichtet hat.

Aber Du kannst ja unter den von mir oben angegebenen Link, das Paket mit einen Klick installieren (naja, sind dann doch ein paar mehr mit Passworteingabe und Bestätigung. Aber immer hin).
